
John Tynan is the Chairman & CEO of TynanGroup Inc. which he founded in Santa Barbara, California over two decades ago.
Twenty years and over $8.5 billion of development experience makes John one of the most respected project managers in the country. His wealth of exposure involving commercial, industrial, and residential development has benefited some of the biggest corporations in America as Chairman & CEO of TynanGroup Inc.
Mr. Tynan has developed a full-service consulting firm with offices strategically located across the country. His company’s achievement is attributed to its understanding of all facets of project processes and development.
Prior to founding TynanGroup, Mr. Tynan spent nearly a decade managing the construction of several luxury resort and hotel projects for Hyatt Development Corporation. As Vice President of Planning and Construction, Mr. Tynan successfully oversaw the entitlements, design management and construction of some $1.5 billion dollars in project expenditures and a total field force of over 9000 people.
John Tynan is a frequent speaker with industry and trade publications as well as conventions and Fortune 500 corporate retreats. Recently, Irish American Magazine named Mr. Tynan one of its “Business 100.” Mr. Tynan holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.

Brian Nystuen is the President of TynanGroup, Inc. With more than thirty-five years of experience in the development industry, he brings a broad and diverse background in real estate development, executive leadership, and project delivery. As President, Brian plays a key role in shaping TynanGroup’s strategic vision, driving company growth, overseeing operations, fostering strong stakeholder relationships, and providing critical resources and expertise to project teams to ensure the success of every project managed by the firm.
Brian’s extensive experience positions him as an industry expert across all phases of development, including entitlement, project programming, design development, and comprehensive project administration. His portfolio includes major hotel, resort, and casino developments, as well as significant experience in commercial, industrial, residential, and public works projects.
A highly effective leader, Brian excels at guiding large, multidisciplinary teams through complex projects from inception to completion. Drawing on decades of hands-on experience and proven leadership, he has consistently delivered large-scale projects on time and within budget for TynanGroup.
Mr. Nystuen holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University, College of Engineering, Division of Construction.

David Odell is the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President for TynanGroup, Inc. Having spent over a decade as a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Odell is responsible for all financial aspects of the corporation.
In addition, Mr. Odell has led the development of several iconic projects in Santa Barbara, including The Canary Hotel, 26 West Anapamu—home of Westmont College’s nursing program—and Summit Surgery Center, the County’s first accredited ambulatory surgery center.
Mr. Odell joined TynanGroup in 1994 and brings with him extensive experience in public finance and accounting, with an emphasis in real estate and business tax. Since 1997, Mr. Odell has been a leader in the development and management of outpatient surgery centers, developing more than 20 facilities including projects for clients like USC Keck Medicine and Universal Health Services.

Cameron has served as Vice President since 2014 and was recently promoted to Executive Vice President in January 2026, overseeing the successful delivery of dozens of complex and high‑profile projects. His portfolio includes work across diverse sectors—healthcare, education, recreation, hospitality, public works, and specialty programs—with notable contributions to projects such as the Santa Barbara Zoo, Music Academy of the West, Hotel Californian, and the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Throughout his 28-year tenure, Mr. Carey has demonstrated an exceptional ability to build and lead high‑performing teams, ensuring that projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and at the highest standard of quality.
